John F. Dankert M.D. Ph.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle care. Dr. Dankert has experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of foot and ankle conditions but has particular interest in total ankle replacements, trauma care, reconstruction, and sports medicine. He believes in working with you to identify the most appropriate evidence-based treatment plan to fit your personalized goals of care, whether that be non-operative or surgical management. His goal is for you to safely and effectively return to your active lifestyle.



Dr. Dankert’s clinical and research interests led him to complete a combined M.D. Ph.D. through the Medical Scientist Training Program at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He remained at the esteemed NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training where he participated in the care of patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and deformities. He later completed his fellowship training in advanced foot and ankle surgery at Duke University where he worked alongside leaders in total ankle replacements, complex foot and ankle deformity reconstruction and correction, joint preservation, arthroscopy, and traumatic injuries.



Dr. Dankert has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and presented extensively on topics from cell cycle regulation to foot and ankle surgical innovations.  His research experience highlights the importance of optimizing both non-operative and operative techniques to achieve the best patient outcomes.
